Knowledge is from Allah
What is the nature of our knowledge?
Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 32:
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ
They said, ‘May You be glorified! We have knowledge only of what You have taught us. You are the All Knowing and All Wise.’
Just as the Angels humbled and lowered themselves, we need to recognise that all the knowledge has been taught by Allah.
If we are bestowed with some knowledge, pride and arrogance is illogical. Rather, we should be humble, knowing that it has ALL come as a blessing from Allah.
Do not be fooled into thinking that Allah only gives us knowledge of the Deen and that our knowledge of the Dunya is from our efforts. Rather, it is ALL that we possess, no matter how advanced technology and science gets that Allah has allowed us to possess. Don’t be fooled into thinking that only the marvels of nature are from Allah, rather the marvels of technology are from Allah also.
The Angels are mentioning two attributes of Allah, the All Knowing and All Wise. They are acknowledging that there is knowledge that Allah knows that they do not know. They are acknowledging that there is wisdom that Allah knows from all that exists, which they do not know.
We need to strive increase not only in knowledge that is beneficial to us, but also in understanding the wisdom behind it. How it can be used for our benefit? in knowing that there is a time, a place, and a way in which it is to be used and applied, our example? Our beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
